Your small-group tour starts downtown on historic Queen Street. Your local guide will walk you away from the Harbor, through the city’s hidden laneways, past local cafes, street art and boutiques to an early Maori fortress and a park with a military secret. Along the way you'll hear about Auckland's early Maori history and its European colonisation. Enjoy a refreshment break at a gracious heritage hotel (as this tour includes an indulgence or two) before discovering Auckland’s stunning Art Gallery and Suffragette Square. A short ride uptown on the locals' bus reveals a vibrant arty neighborhood.

Here you'll wander through a grand arcade and browse the wares of local shop owners. A gentle stroll through a bird-filled valley (with a shameful past) returns you to upper Queen St by the Auckland Town Hall, where your guide bids you “Haere Ra” or farewell.

Add the option of a post-tour lunch at a popular city bistro and your guide will escort you to the restaurant.

Your guide is a friendly Aucklander with special charms which they’ll reveal as you walk. Each walk is a once-only theatre of the street.

Together you’ll get off the beaten track and explore the squares, side streets, sculptures and open spaces of New Zealand’s most diverse city on foot. Plus local hangouts and heroes. You'll even climb a small volcano in the city - how cool is that?

We guarantee that you'll lose yourself, find your feet and leave feeling (and talking) like a local. This is the 'all-you-need-to-know' Auckland walking tour with a genuine Kiwi guide.
