Your small-group tour starts downtown on historic Queen Street. Your local guide will walk you away from the Harbor, through the city’s hidden laneways, past local cafes, street art and boutiques to an early Maori fortress and a park with a military secret. Along the way you'll hear about Auckland's history and European colonisation. Enjoy a refreshment break at an elegant hotel (as this tour includes an indulgence or two) before discovering Auckland’s stunning Art Gallery and Suffragette Square. A short ride uptown on the locals' bus reveals a vibrant arty neighborhood.
Here you'll wander through a grand arcade and browse the wares of local shop owners. A gentle stroll through a bird-filled valley (with a shameful past) returns you to upper Queen St by the Auckland Town Hall, where your guide bids you “Haere Ra” or farewell.
Combine your morning tour with the option of a 2-course set lunch up Sky Tower. Enjoy delicious NZ-style cuisine with panoramic harbor views from your reserved table at the Southern Hemisphere's highest rotating restaurant, Orbit 360. You can see up to 50 miles on a clear Auckland day!
Or choose to enjoy mouth-watering fish and chips or a grilled fish salad at a heritage food lane.
Your guide is a friendly Aucklander with special charms which they’ll reveal as you walk. Each small-group tour is a once-only theatre of the street.
Together you’ll get off the beaten track and explore the squares, side streets, sculptures and open spaces of New Zealand’s most diverse city on foot. Plus local hangouts and heroes. You'll even climb a small volcano in the city - how cool is that?
We guarantee that you'll find your feet and lose yourself. This is the 'all-you-need-to-know' Auckland walking tour with a genuine Kiwi guide.
This tour requires a minimum booking of 2 people. Traveling alone? Please enquire here with your desired date and we'll get back to you.
